Le 6 mai 2014, General Electric, Eranove et Endeavor Energy ont signé un accord de co-développement en présence du gouvernement ghanéen, en vue de la construction d’une centrale thermique à gaz qui, à terme, devrait ajouter 1 000 mégawatts de capacité de production électrique supplémentaire sur le réseau interconnecté de ce pays.
L’accord qui régit la collaboration entre les trois entités dans le cadre de ce projet a été signé – en présence de John Abu Jinapor, le Vice-Ministre de l’énergie du Ghana – par John Rice, vice-président du conseil d’administration de General Electric, de Vincent Le Guennou, président du conseil d’administration de Eranove et de Sean Long directeur général d’Endeavor Energy. Les partenaires ont émis le vœu que le projet réduise la fracture énergétique au Ghana.
Le projet se déploiera en deux phases. La première phase permettra de fournir près de 360 mégawatts d’électricité à horizon 2017, puis 180 mégawatts supplémentaires dans un délai de 6 à 12 mois après cette première mise en service par l’ajout d’un cycle combiné vapeur. La deuxième phase de 460 mégawatts devrait s’achever en 2019 pour atteindre la cible de 1000 mégawatts visée par ce projet.
Situé à l’ouest du Ghana, ce projet est un projet pionnier et intégré de type ‘gas-to-power’ : il intègre l’importation de gaz naturel liquéfié (GNL), des équipements flottants de stockage de gaz dédiés, une unité de regazéification, des infrastructures pour acheminer le gaz jusqu’à la centrale et la centrale électrique elle-même constituée de turbines à combustion. 35% moins cher que le pétrole, le GNL permettra de palier au déficit de gaz naturel que connait actuellement le Ghana pour produire une électricité moins chère.
Les 3 partenaires seront coactionnaires de la société de projet: General Electric sera l’équipementier principal de ce projet tandis que eranove assurera l’exploitation et la maintenance des ouvrages de production. Endeavor Energy jouera un rôle prépondérant dans la phase de développement, appuyés à cet égard par les équipes de GE et de eranove.
Eranove honorera ses engagements avec sa filiale CIPREL, producteur indépendant d’électricité qui compte plus de 19 ans d’expérience dans l’exploitation de centrales thermiques à gaz en Côte d’Ivoire. CIPREL avec ses 6 turbines à gaz dispose d’une capacité de production installée actuelle de 432 MW et avec sa turbine à vapeur en cours de construction, cette capacité installée devrait passer à 543 MW à fin 2015.
L’ensemble du périmètre de CIPREL est certifié QSE: ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001. CIPREL a atteint le stade de maturité pour son engagement dans la Responsabilité Sociétale d’Entreprise (RSE) de la norme ISO 26 000.
Le niveau d’investissement estimé pour ce projet est de plus de 1 milliard de dollars US. ____________________________________________________________________________

On May, 6th, 2014, General Electric, Eranove and Endeavor Energy have signed a joint development agreement, in presence of the Government of Ghana, concerning the construction of a power plant: “the Ghana 1,000 project”, aimed at adding 1,000 megawatts of thermal power to Ghana’s installed electricity capacity.
The signing of the agreement by John Rice, Vice-president of General Electric, Vincent Le Guennou, President of Eranove and Sean Long Managing Director of Endeavor Energy- occurred in presence of John Abu Jinapor, Deputy Energy Minister of Ghana. The partners pledged their commitment to seeing the project implemented to ease Ghana’s nagging energy challenges.
The project will be built in two phases. The first phase will produce about 360 MW of power by 2017 and 180 MW from a combined cycle will be added within 6 to 12 months after this first commissioning. The second phase of 460 MW – allowing to achieve the 1000 MW target capacity should be commissioned in 2019.
Located in the Western Region of Ghana, this pioneering integrated gas-to-power project will combine the importation of liquefied natural gas (LNG), a dedicated Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) to receive, store and regas, and associated infrastructure to transport natural gas on-shore to advanced GE turbines to generate efficient, clean power.
With current LNG prices approximately 35% less than the current price of light crude oil, the import of LNG is expected to both reduce the cost of generation as compared to light crude oil and to cut out the gas shortage the country currently faces to power its generation plants.
The 3 partners will co-sponsor the project: General Electric (GE) will be the main manufacturer, Eranove will be in charge of operations and maintenance of the power plant and Endeavor Energy will have a major role in the development phase, with the support of eranove and GE teams.
Eranove will honor this agreement alongside its subsidiary CIPREL, an IPP (Independent Power Producer) with 19 years of experience running a gas-fired power plant in Côte d’Ivoire. CIPREL with its 6 gas turbines operates 432 MW of installed capacity and should reach a 543 MW capacity by the end of 2015 with its steam turbine under construction.
The entire CIPREL scope is certified Quality, Security, Environment (ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001) and has reached the maturity stage for Corporate Social Responsibility under ISO 26000 standard.
The project represents an investment of over US$ 1 billion.
